A Brief History of the Italian Marque
Founded in 1947, Mototecnica Mainini of Busto Arsizio was a SIATA dealer which sold Cucciolo micromotors.
The passion of Vincenzo Mainini for engine technology proceeded through a long series of transformations.
Of interest are the Aquilotto engine with rotating disc exhaust, the Ducati single-shaft engines, and then the processing of cross engines and the building of special frames.
In 1960 the brothers Vincenzo and Fausto Mainini built a racing machine with a low-profile chassis and an Aermacchi four-stroke engine (based on the 175cc model) to participate in competition in the 125 class.
There then trasformazionia spinning disk to the engine lug dell'Aletta Oro 125 which is housed in a chassis designed by the specialist Othmar Drixl.
In 1971 a modified engine with water cooling was fitted to a KTM motocross bike.
In 1974 Mainini began developing engines for the 50cc Kreidler-powered MTK. From 1975 to 1985, MTK won 8 Italian championships in road-racing and hill-climb.
